Ghanaian-American Mezzo-Soprano Tesia Kwarteng has most recently been seen as Young Artist at the Glimmerglass Festival where she covered Maria in Porgy and Bess and Aunt Eller in Oklahoma!. Her other credits include; Arnita Seward in Blue Viola and Thelma Yablonski in Later the Same Evening (Opera Memphis), Marian Anderson in Deep River: Marian Anderson’s Journey (Virginia Opera), The Witch in Hansel and Gretel (CoOPERAtive), Lucretia in The Rape of Lucretia (Utopia Opera), Chorus in Harriet Tubman: When I crossed that line to Freedom (American Opera Projects), and La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica (Opera on the Avalon). Tesia was a Studio Artist at the Chautauqua Opera in 2016 where she covered Peep Bo in The Mikado and premiered Jeremy Gill’s art song Rose based on Ann Patchett’s book The Patron Saint of Liars.
